FIC: The Reporter's Tale (Valiant Tales)

Title: The Reporter's Tale
Series: Valiant Tales.  Read them in order here.
Rating: G
Characters:
The Master (Simm), other characters
Genre: drabble
Spoilers: Minor spoilers for The Sound of Drums and Last of the Time Lords.
Summary: A series of drabbles about the people who lived, worked, and suffered on the Valiant during the Year That Never Was.  100 words according to MS Word.
Disclaimer: The sandbox belongs to RTD and the BBC. I'm just playing here, in the corner, making little sand-TARDISs.

After the takeover, my cameramen were drafted to broadcast his speeches.  I volunteered to chronicle his regime.

“A silent observer,” he commanded.  “Nothing written until I say.”  He provided a security bracelet for access to most of the ship.  As it touched me, my mind froze.  Mocking laughter.  “Sycorax slave-band.   Inhibits specific brain functions.”

I couldn’t talk, couldn’t write.  To stay sane, I “wrote” in my mind.  How else to endure the horrors I witnessed?  Now he’s dead, I can write the story, but… it never happened.  They offer me a pill to forget.  Did the Sycorax create that, too?

It's not so much a serious question as an expression of bitter resignation. It's a lose-lose situation.

Just discovered this series of yours - you really pack a punch in a small package. Wow. Fascinating look at the wider story.
