Title: The Second Aide's Tale
Series: Valiant Tales.  Read them in order here.
Rating: PG
Characters:
The Master (Simm), other characters
Genre: drabble
Spoilers: Minor spoilers for The Sound of Drums and Last of the Time Lords.
Summary: A series of drabbles about the people who lived, worked, and suffered on the Valiant during the Year That Never Was. 100 words according to MS Word.
Disclaimer: The sandbox belongs to RTD and the BBC. I'm just playing here in the corner, making little sand-TARDISs.

These youngsters and their enthusiasm!  A strong work ethic is desirable, but fervour is no substitute for efficiency.  Yesterday, Grenfell proposed moving 3000 work units from Chongqing to Dazhou. Low transport costs, true, but he overlooked better options.  Preuilly is a trouble spot.  Relocating 3000 units would empty the town, leaving only the unproductive for the Resistance to waste resources on.

The female assigned for my use lacks enthusiasm.  I will requisition another.  The Master would undoubtedly kill her;  I cannot bear to do that.  Radiation Plant 2178 needs replacements.  Sending the female there is a much more efficient solution.

Ah, but remember those members of the Resistance, sharing their meagre supplies with "the unproductive".

Have you read "The Story of Martha" yet? :)

No, and I'm almost afraid to. I don't want to be unduly influenced. :-)

If you get to a stopping point, it's a good one.

Stopping? [insert witty remark here] I suppose eventually I'll run out of new ideas... or find myself recycling old ones. In the meantime, I find these satisfying to write, especially when I'm feeling stuck on one of my longer stories.

The second sentence is worth the price of admission, for various horrifying values of "worth" - excellent work!

Thanks for the compliment! (Did you mean "work"?)

Nah...just a stupendously pompous way of saying the sentence was worth the price of admission, if, by "worth," one referred to some bad craziness described beautifully. I picked it up years ago from skiffy fandom friends who were into maths/computer neepery.

Yeah, the icon is cool, isn't it? Feel free to gank, with credit to illusion

Ah... all is now made clear. Sometimes I am a Bear of Very Little Brain.

And thanks for sharing the icon. :-)
