Disclaimer: The sandbox belongs to the BBC. I'm just playing here, in the corner, making little sand-TARDISes. Not making any money, not asserting any claims.
A/N:
If you haven't seen the Christmas special, this won't make much sense to you.  Thanks to wendymr  for the lightning beta.

He yawns.  Christmas Eve lasted seven days.  Ship safe, Kazran sorted -- time for a nap.

"Pleased with yourself, Doctor?" The voice sounds familiar.  "Altering a timeline to alter a personality... even I never broke that law."

"Who's there?"  He can't see, can't move.

"Were you remembering the Titanic?  Did you think saving another ship would redeem your failure?"

"There were 4003 lives at stake!  And Kazran is happy now."

"Rewriting one life to save many.  Can't fault your maths."

"Who are you?"

"The Ghost of Christmas Past -- or Future."  The Time Lord Victorious laughs.  "The choice is yours."

*shudders* This is scary and worrying--because it rings true. Great job.

Thank you. I know the Doctor gave a warning first, but I still found his methods disturbing.

Nicely worded. And yeah, that about covers it. Unlike the apparent majority of (at least the vocal) people, I enjoyed the Christmas special for what it was, and didn't try to make it into something it's not. But I did notice that big, unexplored, and very creepy thread running through it.

Nicely worded.

Thanks -- always nice to get that comment from a skilled wordsmith.

Yeah, the bopping back and forth in time was amusing, but I found the implications unsettling. Especially since the adult Kazran was aware of what was happening, and could feel his memories changing.

*shudder* Creepy. Although I kind of like the dark twist they're taking on the Doctor. (It makes me think of the direction Big Finish is going with Seven.)

Thanks!

I find the Doctor's actions in this creepy, but I'm not sure that the PTB intended them to read as such. It's meant to be a parallel to the heartwarming Dickens story.
