Help Japan in honor of HonorH

ETA:  HonorH is safe!  Please keep adding "Help Japan" hearts to her profile -- it would be great to get the total up to 100 for a welcome home gift.

Everyone's aware of the terrible tragedy in northeastern Japan.  And many of the people on my f-list are aware that honorh (co-moderator of betterwiththree ) lives in that part of the country.  She has not been heard from, and is officially on the missing persons list.    wendymr  has been posting updates on her own LJ.  We all hope that HonorH has been safely evacuated and has not yet been able to contact her family due to disruption in communications.

I'm sure that many of you have already donated to the relief efforts in Japan through your favorite organizations.  LJ has added "Help Japan" to its charity gifts.  The cost is only $2.99.  While we wait and hope for good news about HonorH, I suggest that we express our concern in a visible and useful way by helping the country she loves and filling her profile with "Help Japan" hearts.

If you haven't purchased a virtual gift before, no worries -- it's easy.  Go to her profile.  On the menu to the right, click on "send v-gift" (or just click here).  You can pay in several ways, including Paypal.  The gift can be anonymous.  You can include a message -- or not.

Everyone has permission is encouraged to repost or link to this message in their own journals, LJ comms, and other suitable places.

Great idea! I sent her one, and a few to other people as well.

Does it say anywhere which charities LJ is giving this too? I'm guessing the Red Cross or MSF?

It doesn't say, but I'd think it would be one of the major charities such as the ones you mentioned. Thanks for giving!

Keeping my fingers crossed she's alright - I'm not a friend, but I've read her stuff. In times like these I wonder if I should apply at the Technical Relief Agency around here. Just sitting here doing nothing is so hard.

*nods* Waiting is always hard. I can't imagine what it's like for her family.

I joined in -- I actually have a little spare cash for straight-up donations, ATM. In fact, I'll probably go back and give a few more gifts to folks, to make up for my previous absences . . .

This is a wonderful idea! I've boosted the signal in a couple of places, including betterwiththree.

ETA: See what you started! This is wonderful.

Thanks for the signal boost! I am very pleased (but not at all surprised) at how generous everyone has been.

Reading the updates...Seriously short on cash here, but sending good thoughts/vibes/love/prayer/whatever. I know how scary and chaotic the earthquakes I've been in can be. I can't imagine what it's like over there.
